What the heck?

Well, what the heck. One a totally different topics I found out that Blogger users are being invited to try Gmail. I have been blogging for the past month or so quite regularly and I don't get an invite... Anyway, cross my fingers and toes I'll be waiting. I want to try out this new service see how it shakes right from the beginning... Yo, Google why don't you guys get me in there man.... Anyone listening?

Couldn't wait much longer

Well, I couldn't wait much longer but I suppose its okay. I had another sneak peek at Meenaxi the movie and impressed again. Not in the least sense did it seem repetitive. I actually picked up many details that I had missed in the first one. I paid closer attention to the dialog which is very well written if you observe. But anyway, I'll save the full review for another day. Meanwhile, if you can get your hands on a copy go at it...

So, who's Meenaxi...

Absolutely a wonderful visual treat. Which movie you ask? Why of course, 'Meenaxi: The tale of 3 cities'. Have never seen Gaja Gamini so I'm not familiar with Hussain's work. But, I was definitely impressed with what I saw here. It is one of those movies that does not tell you the story. It asks you to fabricate a story. This is definitely not a slam-bang formula movie with a few romantic scenes dispersed here and there.

It is a movie that is like a painting that is open to the viewer's interpretation. If you go in thinking that you will see a straightforward story with a few twists and a few songs you will be sorely disappointed. If those movies are up your alley then please don't waste your time because you will waste other's time after that bashing it for being disorienting. Spare us!

But, if you love to think through the story and understand that everything that it does is not for a reason but its there ready for a reason to be attached to it then this movie is for you. It is like gossamer as they say in cliched english. Its wonderful!! And its a visual treat to beat... I don't think anyone even the guy who doesn't appreciate the story can contest this fact. Santosh Sivan and Owais have done an absolutely stunning job with the visual choreography. The ample use of light and shadow gives a wonderful enigmatic feeling to Tabu throughout. Would definitely like to know more about Meenaxi if she were real... If only... If only...

I don't think I can wait until I watch it again... Just a couple more weeks before my exams get over and then its back to Meenaxi for a couple of days. Will be posting a lot more about the movie here... don't you worry.

What in the F***ing world is going on...?

I mean Arsenal goes out and so does Real Madrid both in spectacular fashion to teams that haven't tasted Champions League football in I don't know how long. This is absolutely awful. However, full marks to Monaco and Chelsea who went in as underdogs and came out absolutely brilliant.

Real never stood a chance the whole time. I mean they didn't even score at their usual rate. On a single goal from the opposition they would be scrambling like ants to score then next one for their side.

The lesser said about Arsenal the better. I think I should leave it at that... Either way.. have a good night.

whodunit again...?

This time its india's turn, hehe!! How fast things can change, eh? What a series... Well, anyway the lesser said the better about the first day. India played like Pak did in their 2nd innings in the 1st test. Pathetic all around. There is this disease among all subcontinental teams. Apparently, they tend to assume that winning one match will give them the rest of the game. They place too much importance on their so called psychological advantage -- which in the turns out to be over confidence.

Well, either way India have their work cut out on the third day. If they are going to save this game they need to do something very fast. However, Pakistan is in the best position right now they must not lose any wickets and should play like they own this game. They should atleast put up 500 so they can defend a reasonable score for their second innings. This is the best time for them to do so. If they wait until the 4th innings of the game to win it they will be in trouble. Good luck Pak!! India's definitely on the back foot.

whodunit?

This is probably the thought going through pakistan's mind right now. They've been flumoxed beyong expectation. They didn't expect such a dominant performance from their rivals. For that matter neither did the rivals expect such abject loss of confidence within the Pakistan team. The team is a bunch of wonderfully talented guys. But, without proper direction and leadership there is no way to bring them all together.

This is what Imran did very well and Wasim did to a certain extent. But Inzy definitely needs to work on his leadership and strategic skills. I hope Miandad can pull out all stops before the next test to get their pride back. They cannot lose on their home turf. The bowlers needs more focus and the batsmen need to understand the basic tenet of test cricket (playing the good balls and the letting the bad ones go). Understand test cricket, be patient get a feel for the flow of the game. Don't try to get the result, make it come to you. This means not trying to force runs where there aren't any. This means taking the chances that come by without looking back on them.

The batsmen need to be more patient and more assertive in their game play. They need to think positive and create positive energy on the field. Especially when they are fielding, they cannot be down on energy. This is where the team gets to be together and play for a single cause. The captain needs to maintain focus and make the right moves to let his team as well as the opposition know that he is in control of the proceedings.

Dravid did this so well this test. He kept the whole team under control. They didn't worry about the game or the strategy. They did what they thought was right and used the captain's input whenever it was necessary. They concentrated all their efforts on their speciality be it fielding, bowling or batting. Let the captain do the strategical work. He'll ask for help when he needs it. That's the way a captain is supposed to function, he needs to be open but that does not mean he can be influenced by everyone. He should maintain focus and direct the collective energy towards achieving the single goal. This is how a team works and this how matches and series are won, especially in foreign conditions.

GOOD LUCK INZY & PAKISTAN for the 2nd test. KEEP UP THE ENERGY DRAVID... you're gonna need it.

JAI HIND!!
